Responsibility
Acting in a responsible, beneficial way towards our environment, on a natural, social and economic level, is a priority for Herrnhut Metals. Our ambition is to use current opportunities as a bridge to facilitate the transition to a low carbon economy. It is why we trade metals for the ecological transition of Tomorrow.
Our Responsibility Goals
We invest in responsible mining and trading of metals to develop our business and cater to the needs of the market without disturbing the local and international ecosystem. Our employment policies and sustainability protocols support our employees, contractors and local communities to ensure that health and safety along with our environment is a priority.
Conflict Minerals Policy
The term conflict minerals describes the four metals: tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold, that are commonly known as the 3TG. If the mining, supply and trading of these minerals, provide the income to finance any armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or its surrounding countries (DRC countries), they are termed as conflict minerals. As a member of the ITSCI, Herrnhut Metals abides by the rules and regulations to avoid financing conflict, human rights violations and many other risks in our supply chain process.
Corporate Social Responsibility
At Herrnhut Metals, we believe that the stability of a company lies in incorporating social responsibilities to their business planning. We constantly monitor how our business’ activities affect the environment, the people, the communities and the employees. We refrain from activities that harm or cause discomfort to the Earth or the people and work on advancing the growth and development of the community. We integrate these concerns into our business operation and develop a self-regulating business model that helps us achieve our corporate social responsibilities.
Corporate Governance
Our framework of austere policies and practices ensures that our business’ operation runs smoothly. Transparency, ownership and managing risks in a timely manner are at the core of what we do. We balance and ensure economic development, social development and environmental protection to take our company further by creating a culture of association and integration. We respect our fellow employees and uphold utmost professional integrity with our exhaustive compliance policies as we constantly aim to practice the best in corporate governance.
Supplier Code of Conduct
Supply chain stewardship is very important to us, which is why we expect our suppliers to agree to the Supplier Code of Conduct. The document reflects our own values and covers essential topics around governance, business integrity, human rights, labour rights, occupational health and safety, environmental, monitoring and record keeping.
